It’s been a while since i’ve last posted. I’m sorry, I have been busy…ish. A heavier work load, coupled with Bar Show Week in Australia, a visit to Thailand for Adi Ruiz’s wedding, nights in with my girlfriend, and the newly acquired Fifa 12 have meant i’ve been putting my blogging on the back burner.
All in all it’s been a good month or two for me recently. FIrst of all I won the Bartender Magazine Bartender of the Year. Alright, go me! Another accolade which is nice for the resume. I won’t lie, this one is the one i’ve always wanted to win. The one, i’m sure many young bartenders, dream of. I had practiced my speech in my head over and over. That practice meant nothing, as I mumbled and slurred until they kicked me off the stage.
Massive props have have got to also go out to some of my buddies who also picked up awards.
To Robb Sloan. My housemate, and future business partner. Well done on your Brand Ambassador of the Year win. It’s amazing how after taking over Nick Van Tiels role in NSW a year ago, you have managed take this one out. All whilst putting in a total of 17 hours a week.
To Chris Hysted. He finshed second in the Bartender of the Year, he also was my bar-back 5 years ago. Look how far you’ve come!? From winning the Bartender of the Year a couple of years ago whilst I was in the UK to being an all round great guy, and showing how classy you are, to being one of the most personable and hospitibale bartenders in the country, if not the world. I tip my hat to you. I guess finishing second in this years awards go someway to showing you you will never be better than me. Ever.
So, as xmas rolls closer, and the weather gets warmer i’m getting ready for another onslaught at work. But these times are exciting ones and I’m super excited about what’s around the corner. I’ll keep you guys in the loop as soon as anything is confirmed.
For now, be well, be swell and always remember to drinktheshitoutofit…
